The Centre for Disease Control project was a full replacement of existing fire alarms. This project was challenging due to the space being occupied by tenants. As the General Contractor, our team successfully coordinated with the end user to ensure there were no interruptions to day-to-day operations. We also coordinated with the City of Vancouver Electrical, Building, and Fire department to ensure the installation met all necessary code requirements.
Scope of work included the supply and installation of new addressable panel and initiating devices, interconnection of two fire alarm panels with relay logic to avoid fire watch, installation of fire alarm equipment around sensitive equipment, and the installation of fire alarm devices inside level 3 containment labs, while adhering to containment protocols.
We have been involved in many fire alarm projects of varying types over the years. In this case, the project involved the replacement of fire alarm components, including the panel and field devices. The building involved complicated access to various specialty areas. I personally was pleasantly surprised that the project went so well in the installation phase (completion on time, with no major issues). I have no hesitation in recommending your company for fire alarm work with Canada Place.
